Report: Steelers restructure contract of CB Joe Haden

The Steelers continue to create salary cap space.

According to NFL reporter Field Yates, Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Haden is getting a contract restructure in order to help free up more salary-cap space.

A full contract restructure of Haden’s deal should give Pittsburgh an additional $2.9 million. The Steelers went into Monday over the cap and once they put the franchise tag on linebacker Bud Dupree, they were forced to make several moves including this one just to get back under the salary cap.

Haden will be 31 this season but has shown no signs of slowing down. He and Steven Nelson formed one of the best duos in the league. The Steelers have reportedly re-worked several contracts other than Haden including kicker Chris Boswell and tight end Vance McDonald.
