Report: Steelers interested in retaining multiple free agents

It sounds like the Steelers haven’t completely given up on their own free agents.

According to Pittsburgh Steelers writer Gerry Dulac, the Steelers have their eye on several of their in-house free agents as the legal tampering period has begun in the NFL.

Dulac says the Steelers would like to sign cornerbacks Mike Hilton and Cam Sutton along with offensive lineman Matt Feiler and defensive tackle Tyson Alualu.

Pittsburgh is heading into free agency with about $5 million to spend but several bloated contracts they could restructure to help free up more space. The premier name on this list is of course Hilton. He is looking to get a huge raise in free agency and it’s doubtful Pittsburgh can match what he could get.

The rest of the guys on this list are reasonable. Sutton will be a must once Hilton leaves and Feiler would be a great mid-tier signing to help with stability on the offensive line. I doubt there’s any real market for Alualu who is an older player who suffered an injury and struggled down the stretch.
