The Golden State Warriors’ opinion on LaMelo Ball seems to be a fluid one that shifts from one side to the other depending on when and who is asked. Initial reports focused on all of the prospects that the franchise had rated as better than Ball, ranging from Tyrese Haliburton to Deni Avdija.
However, more recently, the reports have swayed more favorably toward Ball. Earlier in the week, a report noted that the Warriors view the trio of James Wiseman, Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball as a tier above the rest of the draft class.
Along the same lines, another report from The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson indicates even more than the Warriors are higher on Ball than initially believed.
“I know a couple of people in the organization think (Ball) is super talented.”
The Warriors are expected to interview Ball in the coming week, though an individual workout is not expected to occur. If Ball does interview with the Warriors, that would be just the third team along with the Timberwolves and Knicks to have the chance to sit down with the potential No. 1 pick.
How much that ultimately changes their opinion of Ball remains to be seen, but it appears that aren’t as low on the prospect as it once seemed.
