The Philadelphia 76ers landed their big fish. President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey created a ton of cap space for this very moment. The whole idea of this offseason was to land a max player to join Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey to form a formidable trio.
That big fish comes in the form of Paul George who was unable to come to terms with the Los Angeles Clippers. The two-way forward was expected to stay on the West Coast, but Morey and Co. were able to make him an offer he couldn’t refuse to bring him to Philadelphia to join the Sixers.
George, a 9-time All-Star, averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 41.3% from deep. The Sixers needed a productive wing player and they now have it in the form of George to the tune of four years and $212 million.

He does have some injury issues as he played in a combined 189 games across his first four seasons with the Clippers. He also missed LA’s 2023 playoff series with the Phoenix Suns, but he did bounce back by playing in 74 games in the 2023-24 season and being available for the playoffs.
The Sixers will now look to continue to grow around their new Big 3.
