The Philadelphia 76ers brought in Daryl Morey to be their new President of Basketball Operations to help them get back on track. The team had a tough 2019-20 season on the floor as their plan to go big did not work and it failed miserably.
As the NBA draft gets set to begin on Wednesday, they figured to be active on the trade market as teams get ready to improve their rosters. One name that has always been involved in trade rumors due to his bad fit was Al Horford.
Horford is a good player, but he did not fit next to Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons and Morey knew he had to get him out of there.
So, on Wednesday, Morey sent Horford, a first, and a second-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for veteran shooter Danny Green

As far as the picks are concerned, it is not the 21st pick in Wednesday’s draft. It is a lightly protected 2025 pick and the second-round pick is the 34th pick in this 2020 draft. Philadelphia is also receiving guard Terrence Ferguson.

Green is a guy who has three championship rings on his resume and he is a guy who brings elite shooting to a team that desperately needs it. He is a career 40.0% shooter from deep and he has a ton of playoff experience that will be valuable moving forward. [lawrence-related id=39204,39200,39197]
