Report: Sixers decline Jeff Dowtin Jr.‘s team option, making him a free agent

The Philadelphia 76ers will decline Jeff Dowtin Jr.’s team option for 2024-25 which will make him a free agent.

The Philadelphia 76ers are continuing to gear up for free agency beginning on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. EDT. The Sixers have a ton of cap space and are expected to pursue Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George aggressively.

As the Sixers continue to prepare for the free agency frenzy, they made a little move in terms of the roster. Jeff Dowtin Jr., who was signed to a deal during the season, will have his team option declined for 2024-25 paving the way for him to enter free agency.

In 12 games with the Sixers, Dowtin averaged 4.3 points and 2.3 assists while shooting 47.4% from deep. He had an understanding of how to run coach Nick Nurse’s system from their days in Toronto together.

The Sixers will now look to use their cap space wisely. This is a big opportunity they have in front of them to add a third star to Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
