Report: Sixers among teams linked to Hawks guard Dejounte Murray

The Philadelphia 76ers are among the teams linked to Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray before the deadline.

The Philadelphia 76ers are armed with assets after President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey pulled the trigger on the big James Harden deal back in late October.

Therefore, the Sixers figure to be very active ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline. Philadelphia is one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference and Morey has always been aggressive in terms of looking for upgrades to help his team remain in contention in the East.

One name that has been floated out there the most is Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray. With the Hawks still struggling to get off the ground, it appears that Atlanta is looking to offload the former All-Star guard.

Per Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, the Sixers are among the teams continued to be linked to Murray:

Murray has generated a substantial market during preliminary conversations around the league. The Hawks have been considered one of the more aggressive front offices this season, sources said, in terms of teams that have been willing to approach rival executives with actual trade concepts as opposed to general interest in specific players. And at this juncture, to varying degrees, the Lakers, Knicks, Sixers, Heat and Pistons are five suitors expected to engage Atlanta about acquiring Murray over the coming days and weeks before Feb 8.

Murray is a solid player who’s averaging 21.1 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 39.4% from deep on 6.1 attempts per game. His ability to provide scoring, shooting, and defense next to Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid is certainly an intriguing prospect.

With that being said, the Sixers are likely to remain patient, and they should. Morey has to make the right decision as there figures to be a lot of big names in the 2024 free agency class even with Kawhi Leonard signing an extension with the Los Angeles Clippers. It will be an interesting time leading into Feb. 8.
