The Philadelphia 76ers had difficult roster decisions to make after the preseason ended on Wednesday to get their roster down to the NBA’s 15-man limit. Considering the team’s depth and the number of veterans on their roster, it makes sense young guys are getting released.
In addition to releasing Charles Bassey, the Sixers are also releasing Isaiah Joe after two seasons with the team. Joe was the 49th pick in the 2020 draft, and he averaged 3.7 points and shot 34.9% from deep for the team.
Considering Joe had a non-guaranteed contract, like Bassey, the move makes sense for Philadelphia. Joe is a talented young guard who should get another opportunity in this league due to his shooting ability.

Coach Doc Rivers explained on Wednesday that the team has a logjam at the guard spots. Furkan Korkmaz, De’Anthony Melton, Danuel House Jr., Shake Milton and Matisse Thybulle are all ahead of Joe at the moment. He needs to go to a team that will give him a bigger role and opportunity to develop and grow.
