Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. came over the middle on Sunday against the Seahawks, and Seattle corner Tre Flowers was there to meet him with an illegal hit.
Smith Jr. managed to make the catch and Flowers was hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty for the hit.
Now that the game is over, Flowers has been hit with a fine of $4,851 due to the play in the third quarter, according to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press.
Smith Jr. finished with 64 receiving yards in the game, which is good considering how little of a factor he has been in past weeks. More good news for the Vikings: Smith Jr. was not listed on the injury report this week, so he’s good to go against the Falcons, barring anything unexpected.
