Report: Robert Saleh to get 2nd interview with Chargers

49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is interviewing for a second time with the Chargers for their head coach job.

A day after Robert Saleh took a second interview with the New York Jets for their head coach opening, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Saleh will have a second interview with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers were among the first teams to reach out to the 49ers about interviewing the defensive coordinator for their head coaching vacancy.

Saleh interviewed with the Jets a second time on Wednesday, and New York hoped to come to terms on a deal, but he left without an agreement. Instead, he flew to Florida where he’s meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday.

The Jaguars interviewed Saleh, but he’s no longer in the running after reports surfaced that Jacksonville is expected to hire former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer.

That leaves the Jets, Chargers, Falcons, Lions and Eagles as the options for Saleh to start his head coaching career. It appears the Jets and Chargers are the frontrunners for now.
