Report: RB Kenyan Drake to miss ‘a few weeks’ with ankle injury

Drake should return later this season.

The Arizona Cardinals will be without running back Kenyan Drake for a significant amount of time. He left the game Sunday night with an ankle injury and he was visibly upset.

After X-rays and an MRI, the news isn’t good but it definitely could be worse. He will miss several weeks but should return later this season.

According to multiple reports Monday morning, x-rays were negative for any fracture.

Monday afternoon came more specific news from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Drake suffered a torn ligament in his ankle. The team will treat it like a high ankle sprain and he will miss several weeks.

He will certainly be placed on injured reserve to free up the roster spot. Chase Edmonds will take over the starting role in his place.

In seven games this season, Drake rushed for 512 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 4.3 yards per attempt.
