The Rashaad Penny era is getting off to a rocky start in Philadelphia.
Olivia Reiner of The Inquirer reports that the running back will be inactive for the season opener at the Patriots.
Running back Rashaad Penny is expected to be a healthy scratch today against the Patriots, league sources tell me and @jctsports.
Penny, a five-year veteran with a career 5.7-yard rushing average, signed with the Eagles as a free agent in the offseason.

Reiner labeled it a “healthy scratch,” all indications suggest that the D’Andre Swift and Kenneth Gainwell duo will carry the load for the Eagles outside of an injury or unique matchup.
When healthy, Penny is one of the most productive running backs in the NFL, averaging 5.7 yards per carry for his career and 6 yards per carry over the past two years.
