Report: Rams restructure Aaron Donald’s contract, free up $9.2 million in cap space

With all the moves the Rams have made in free agency, they needed to clear some cap space and did so by restructuring Aaron Donald’s contract

It’s been a busy offseason for the Los Angeles Rams and they’re probably not done yet. After already signing several players, including a few of their own, the Rams are quickly eating into their $46 million in cap space.

On Friday, they restructured Aaron Donald’s contract to free up $9.2 million in cap room, according to Jason Fitzgerald of Over The Cap. Donald came into the offseason with a cap hit of $34.2 million, the second-largest on the team, but that number has dropped to $24.97 million with this restructure.

The downside is Donald’s cap hit has jumped to $38.5 million in 2025, which is only a void year when he’s not actually under contract. A restructure is not a pay cut, but it does give the player more money up front.

That could be why Donald shared a cryptic, out-of-context clip of himself dancing this week because he knew this was coming.

According to Over The Cap, Los Angeles now has $19 million in cap space, but that doesn’t account for the contracts of Colby Parkinson, Darious Williams or Kamren Curl.
