As the Los Angeles Rams continue to vet defensive coordinator candidates for their vacancy on Sean McVay’s staff, former Panthers and Commanders head coach Ron Rivera appears to be in the mix.
According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the Rams interviewed Rivera for their defensive coordinator position over the weekend, which is fascinating. Rivera was fired by the Commanders after the 2023 season and while he isn’t getting any looks as a head coach during this hiring cycle, the Rams and Cowboys could be considering him for their defensive coordinator jobs – if Dan Quinn leaves Dallas.
Rivera coached the Commanders for four years form 2020-2023 after a nine-year stint with the Panthers from 2011-2019. Before that he was the Bears’ defensive coordinator from 2004-2006 and the Chargers’ DC from 2008-2010.

In addition to Morris, the Rams have also set up or completed interviews with Brandon Staley, Aden Durde and Dennard Wilson.
