Report: Rams hiring Broncos’ Chris Beake as LBs coach

The Rams are hiring Broncos assistant Chris Beake as their new linebackers coach

The Los Angeles Rams will have several vacancies to fill on their coaching staff this offseason after Kevin O’Connell, Ejiro Evero, Dwayne Stukes and Marcus Dixon all left for opportunities with other teams. Evero, Stukes and Dixon all joined the Broncos, but the Rams are stealing one of Denver’s assistants in exchange.

According to Mike Klis of 9News in Denver, the Rams are hiring Chris Beake as their new linebackers coach. Beake has been with the Broncos since 2013 but with Vic Fangio being fired, it appears new coach Nathaniel Hackett is choosing not to bring Beake back.

What’s interesting is the fact that Beake is taking a position with the Rams that wasn’t publicly known as being vacant. Chris Shula is the Rams’ current LBs coach so it looks like he could either receive a promotion or leave Sean McVay’s staff.

Beake was promoted by the Broncos last season from defensive assistant to defensive pass game specialist. He previously worked a defensive quality control coach and defensive line coach, as well.

Perhaps by bringing in Beake, who was on the Broncos’ staff while Von Miller was in Denver, the Rams are attempting to lure Miller back to Los Angeles this offseason before he hits free agency.
