The New England Patriots are unlikely to sell at the trade deadline, with a Stephon Gilmore trade looking unfeasible, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The Patriots’ top cornerback and the defending Defensive Player of the Year, Gilmore put his house on the market this week, which sparked speculation that he might be expecting a trade. He suffered a knee injury this week and will not play in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills.
Even if a Gilmore deal isn’t possible, the Patriots have plenty of other assets that might work for a trade: cornerback J.C. Jackson and guard Joe Thuney.

If the Patriots aren’t sellers, they likely won’t be buyers either, as noted by Rapoport in the video above. New England won’t want to waste resources buying talent for the 2020 season when the team is already likely out of the Super Bowl hunt. No team has won the Super Bowl with a 2-4 record.
The NFL trade deadline is 4 p.m. on Nov. 3.
