The New England Patriots are working on trading [autotag]Jarrett Stidham [/autotag] to the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Albert Breer of Si.com.
The teams are expected to trade late-round picks to complete the move.
The former Auburn quarterback was taken in the fourth round of the 2019 draft and quickly became the backup to Tom Brady. When Brady left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers it seemed like the job was Stidhams, but another former Auburn quarterback swooped in.
Cam Newton signed with the team ahead of the 2020 season and became the starting quarterback. Stidham was once again blocked ahead of the 2021 season when the Patriots drafted Mac Jones in the first round.
He will now have a chance to compete for the backup job behind Derek Carr in Las Vegas.
Stidham has appeared in eight games across three seasons. He has completed 22-of-44 passes for 270 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions.
