The New England Patriots have decided to place a second-round tender on restricted free-agent receiver Jakobi Meyers, according to his agent Drew Rosenhuas. If he signs that tender and receives no other offers, Meyers will earn $3.986 million on the one-year deal for 2022.
Meyers can shop himself on the market, seeking out other contract offers from NFL teams. The market may not be robust, however, because any team interested in signing Meyers would have to send a second-round pick to the Patriots. If Meyers does get an offer, the Patriots have the option to match. (And Meyers has the option to reject that offer.)
He was the top slot receiver in the Patriots offense in 2021, and logged 83 catches, 866 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Patriots have decided to use the 2nd-round tender on WR Jakobi Meyers, per his agent @DrewJRosenhaus. The Patriots will not be tendering FB Jakob Johnson, who now will be a free agent and is expected to have a market for his services.

He will rejoin receivers Kendrick Bourne, Nelson Agholor, N’Keal Harry and Tre Nixon, among others.
