A piece of the Jets offensive line from late last season won’t be returning in 2021.
Guard Pat Elflein, who started the final six games for New York in 2020 after the Jets claimed him off waivers in mid-November, is in agreement with the Carolina Panthers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 26-year-old will get a three-year, $13.5 million deal with $6 million fully guaranteed.
Elflein was subpar for the Jets last season, recording a 48.0 overall Pro Football Focus grade. He allowed two sacks in six games after coming over from the Vikings. The Panthers were in need of guards, as both of their starters from 2020 are free agents.
Elflein’s deal with Carolina won’t be official until the new league year begins on March 17 at 4 p.m. ET.
