Report: Panthers plan to hire Buccaneers WR coach Brad Idzik as OC

Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Panthers are expected to hire Bucs WR coach Brad Idzik as their new OC.

The Carolina Panthers just might have themselves a new offensive coordinator.

According to ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, the team is expected to hire Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receivers coach Brad Idzik to the position. The 32-year-old, who has been the perceived favorite for the job, is one of two known candidates in the search.

News of Carolina’s interest in Idzik first popped up this past Friday, courtesy of JC Allen from Bucs Gameday. That interest shouldn’t have been a surprise given the relationship between he and new Panthers head coach Dave Canales.

The two started sharing a sideline back in 2019, with the Seattle Seahawks. Canales, up until 2022, served as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator while Idzik took up stints as the assistant wide receivers coach, the assistant quarterbacks coach and an offensive quality control coach.

Idzik will be presumably slotting into the vacancy left behind by Thomas Brown—who, obviously, is not expected back for a second year.
