Carolina Panthers wideout Adam Thielen was on the receiving end of one of the most spectacular plays in Week 3. But unfortunately, that very play has cost him.
As first reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport on Tuesday, the Panthers are set to place Thielen on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler would then add that the injury is considered a “fairly significant” one.
Thielen sustained the setback in the second quarter of Sunday’s stunning 36-22 upset win over the Las Vegas Raiders. With just under 30 seconds remaining in the first half, the 34-year-old veteran reeled in a 31-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Andy Dalton, who made his first start for Carolina following their benching of struggling second-year passer Bryce Young.
After making the phenomenal grab, Thielen remained down in the end zone and did not return in the second half.
What a throw by @andydalton14! What a catch by @athielen19!
