According to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network, the Carolina Panthers are expected to hire Seattle Seahawks VP of Football Operations Scott Fitterer as their new general manager.
Fitterer has been in Seattle’s organization since 2001 and worked closely with general manager John Schnieder. Along with Pete Carroll and former Seahawks executive Scot McCloughan, they had a hand in building one of the most successful franchises in the league over the last decade. At their peak from 2013-2014, Seattle won one Super Bowl and came within inches of winning another.
At the time, Fitterer was the team’s director of college scouting, which should bode well for future Carolina draft classes. Some excellent draft picks played a huge role in their run, especially the 2012 class that netted Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner.
Overall, Seattle has only missed the playoffs once in the last nine seasons and hasn’t had a losing record.
