Report: Packers to sign rookie LB De’Jon Harris to practice squad

The Packers are signing undrafted free agent rookie LB De’Jon Harris, formerly of the Patriots, to the team’s practice squad.

An undrafted rookie linebacker is headed to Green Bay.

The Packers will sign former New England Patriots linebacker De’Jon Harris to the team’s practice squad, according to Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

Harris originally signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent from Arkansas on May 5.

At Arkansas, Harris played in 48 games with 36 starts, tallying 371 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, 25.5 tackles for losses, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and eight quarterback hits. He had 100 or more tackles during each of his last three seasons and was a three-time All-SEC selection. As a junior, he led the conference with 118 tackles.

Harris (5-11, 234) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.69 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine. He also had a 33″ vertical and did 18 reps on the bench press but finished last among linebackers with a 7.38-second in the three-cone drill. He improved his time to 7.06 at his pro day.

Harris joins undrafted rookie Krys Barnes as the two inside linebackers on the practice squad. He’s also the second player signed who wasn’t in training camp with the Packers, joining receiver Robert Foster.
