Report: Oregon State G Gus Lavaka could be a Vikings late-round target

Want to see Minnesota take Oregon State guard Gus Lavaka in the draft this year?

Minnesota released guard Josh Kline, so there’s definitely a need to at least draft a depth player on the interior offensive line.

One of the Vikings’ 12 draft picks could be used on Oregon State guard Gus Lavaka. According to Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune, Lavaka could be a late-round target for the Vikings.

The latest version of a draftsite.com mock draft has the Vikings taking Lavaka in the seventh round at pick No. 219.

It makes perfect sense to take Lavaka at that point in the draft, especially if the Vikings are high on him. Offensive line depth is never a bad thing, in my opinion.

Lavaka fills a need and Minnesota has so many positional openings elsewhere, that waiting to fill some of the spots on the roster is a certainty. However, I don’t know if Lavaka could start, so maybe the team should draft multiple guards. The Oregon State product is at least a platoon player, though.
