While the first half against Purdue was stellar for Notre Dame football on the scoreboard, they suffered three significant injuries to starters.
One of them was senior edge rusher [autotag]Jordan Botelho[/autotag], who was carted off the field early in the second quarter. In his first taste of extended playing time, the Hawaiian native looked as though he was heading toward a breakout season.
Earlier in the game against Purdue, he recorded his first sack of the year, but unfortunately, it may be his last as well. According to a report by 247Sports Tim Prister (subscription required), “Botelho is expected to miss the rest of the season.”
This is clearly not the news that anyone wanted to hear, but Prister also mentioned that he could return next year for his sixth season.
