Report: Nuggets acquire 30th pick in NBA draft from Thunder

The Nuggets now have the 21st and 30th selections in the first round of the draft.

On Monday, it was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN that the Denver Nuggets have acquired the 30th pick in the 2022 NBA draft from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Nuggets will send forward JaMychal Green and a protected 2027 first-round pick to the Thunder as part of the trade. Green, who could have become a free agent this summer, is expected to opt into his $8.2 million player option.

Denver will also pick up two future second-round picks in the deal.

The trade marks one of the first major moves for new Nuggets president Calvin Booth. Denver now has pick Nos. 21 and 30 in the draft as the team looks to improve its roster. They have been rumored into wanting to trade up and could now use their two picks to do so.

For the Thunder, they entered the draft with four picks in the top 34, including three in the first round. The team likely did not want to add four first-year players and opted to cash in on one of those assets to bring in a veteran in Green.

The Nuggets have hosted several first-round prospects for workouts, including Santa Clara guard Jalen Williams, Ohio State forward E.J. Liddell and Michigan forward Caleb Houstan with more to come prior to the draft on June 23.
