The last time Brooklyn Nets fans were able to attend a game at Barclays Center, Jacque Vaughn was making his debut as the Brooklyn Nets’ interim head coach. Kevin Durant was also still rehabbing his Achilles and Kyrie Irving had been sidelined by shoulder surgery, leaving the now-injured Spencer Dinwiddie to lead the Nets with 24 points in the 110-107 March 8, 2020 win over the Chicago Bulls.
So, yes, it’s been a while since Nets players got to do their job in front of the home crowd. It appears that’s about to change, at least a little, in the near future.
Anthony Puccio of The Association is reporting the Nets “plan to host a limited number of fans at Barclays Center starting on February 23,” and “the plan is to allow 200 fans into the arena.” Brooklyn’s “platinum season ticket holders” will have first-crack at buying the tickets, per Puccio.
In response to the report of the return of fans, the Nets told NetsDaily, “We continue to work closely with the New York State Department of Health planning for the eventual return of fans to Barclays Center. We are following the Governor’s leadership, and guidance from the DOH, on when we can welcome fans back.”
Brooklyn is back at home on Wednesday for a meeting with the Indiana Pacers.
