The last team the Nets played in the Disney bubble was the Toronto Raptors, who knocked Brooklyn out of the 2020 NBA Playoffs with a sweep in the first round.
Luckily, there wasn’t a blowout like the one the Nets and Philadelphia 76ers had in the 2019 NBA Playoffs — because the Nets and Raptors could see a lot more of each other throughout the 2020-21 NBA season outside of however many matchups they’ll be slated for in the upcoming 72-game slate.
With the COVID-19 pandemic still posing problems and the Raptors being based outside of the U.S., they may need to play their home games elsewhere next season.
According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Nets sharing Barclays Center with the Raptors has been discussed. Berman’s report comes after Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reported the Raptors have “spoken to the operators of the Prudential Center” in Newark.
However, Berman is reporting it’s a long shot that the Raptors will call anywhere but Toronto home in 2020-21.
“…the NBA is working with governments in both Canada and the United States to come up with new guidelines that would make it feasible for visiting teams to travel to and play in Toronto.”
