Report: Nets, Lakers have been discussing potential trades recently

Per Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers have been discussing potential trades in recent days.

The Brooklyn Nets made one of the biggest, if not the biggest, moves that has happened this offseason when they traded Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks. Now that Brooklyn is no doubt embarking a full rebuild, their priorities have changed, but that doesn’t mean that they’re done making moves.

Per Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Lakers have been trying every way possible to add talent to a roster led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis. As many NBA fans know, the Lakers have not had much luck in free-agency with signing players that they’ve been reportedly connected to so it may be time for them to explore trade avenues, potentially with the Nets.

“It’s too early to write the Lakers off, of course. There’s always a chance they pull a rabbit out of a hat with a trade or signing. They have been active in recent days, discussing potential deals with Portland, Brooklyn and Utah, among other teams, according to league and team sources,” Buha wrote.

This is the kind of opportunity that Brooklyn seems to be waiting for as they still have players on their roster, notably forwards Cam Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith, that can still help teams like the Lakers that are trying to maximize their ability to compete.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype recently reported that the Nets have as many as six players on the team that are considered to be trade candidates now that the franchise has committed itself to a rebuild. It remains to be seen whether one of those players will be putting on a Lakers jersey next season, but it seems like Los Angeles may be willing to do business with Brooklyn.
