The saga surrounding Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets continues as the Nets try and accommodate the superstar’s trade request before the 2022-23 season. Durant delivered an ultimatum to team governor Joe Tsai that it’s either him or Sean Marks and Steve Nash and it looks like Tsai chose Marks and Nash.
As the offseason continues and training camp approchaes, the Nets have to make a decision sooner rather than later. It appears that the future Hall of Famer has a firm choice of where he would like to go play.
Per Ian Begley of SNY, Durant has his sights set on playing with Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart and the Boston Celtics:
Durant sees Boston as a desired landing spot, per people familiar with the matter. Durant also would like to play with Boston’s Marcus Smart if he is traded to the Celtics, per people familiar with the matter.
The Athletic had previously reported that Brooklyn wanted Smart included in a package from the Celtics in any Durant trade.

The biggest thing to remember is that the Nets will want to field a competitive team once they trade Durant. They will still have Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons on the roster combined with solid role players so when Brooklyn finally does trade Durant, they need to be able to get somebody who will help win right away in return.
