Kevin Durant won’t play in the Brooklyn Nets’ road game against his old team, the Golden State Warriors, but he will be in attendance on Thursday.
It was supposed to be his first time in front of Warriors fans since he decided to take his talents to Brooklyn. But there’s one problem: the fans aren’t going to be there.
On Wednesday, San Francisco’s mayor, London Breed, announced on Twitter, “the Health Officer of San Francisco is issuing an order prohibiting all large group events of 1,000 or more persons, effective immediately.”
Of course, this news directly impacts the game between the Warriors and Nets.
Soon after Mayor Breed made the announcement, Marc Stein of the New York Times reported the Warriors will still host Brooklyn, but the game will be closed off to fans.
