Report: Nets could pursue Al Horford if he is bought out

Report: The Brooklyn Nets are set to pursue Al Horford if the Boston Celtics buy him out.

Last season was enough to show that another big man who can spread the floor is needed in Brooklyn. Blake Griffin in particular showed just how effective he can be from behind the arc when he shot 41 percent from downtown in that Nets-Bucks series. Unfortunately, DeAndre Jordan and Nicolas Claxton are unable to spread the floor for Brooklyn. Recently, there has been speculation that if the Boston Celtics buy out Al Horford’s contract that the Nets will pursue him per Net Income of NetsDaily.

Horford is coming off of a season where he averaged 14.2 PPG and 6.7 RPG. More importantly, he shot 37 percent from deep and just like that you can imagine how Steve Nash and Sean Marks are drooling over the idea of bringing him to the team. In essence, Horford will be another option to go to when the squad wants to spread the floor while not going small.

In the past, we have seen Jeff Green and even Kevin Durant at that center position. This puts more pressure on Green and Durant because teams will try to exploit them in the interior. With Horford, this will not be the case.
