The NBA has reportedly informed teams that the 2020 NBA Draft will be pushed back from the tentative date of Oct. 16 to Nov. 18, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Teams have been preparing for the possibility that the NBA Draft will be delayed because the start of the 2020-21 season is also expected to be pushed back. The range to begin next season is between December and March with the hope it can start in late December or January.
Prior to finalizing a date for the NBA Draft, the NBA and NBPA must first set the salary cap for next season. Teams need the salary cap figures to be set in order to be able to execute trades and other related transactions around the NBA Draft.
The NBA plans to further discuss that November 18 date with the Board of Governors and general managers in meetings this week, per sources. It could become finalized soon. https://t.co/cUj5j0O82b

The delay to the NBA Draft will also allow the league to finalize plans for a combine and other pre-draft preparations. The league has discussed the possibility of holding a virtual draft combine at regional team facilities throughout the league.
Prospects that elect to participate would go through physical testing at facilities and would have their measurements taken by league officials. Players will undergo physicals at local hospitals by team doctors and would also be tested for the coronavirus at each facility.
