With the league still in a holding pattern and a return date for games yet to determined, the NBA indefinitely postponed the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery and Draft Combine on Friday, as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The lottery was slated to take place on May 19 while the combine was scheduled from May 21 through May 24.
Meanwhile, the draft itself has not yet been pushed back. The NBA’s Board of Governors voted on pushing back the lottery and combine but held off on pushing back the draft itself, slated for June 25, for now.

As the league continues to assess the situation it will face in restarting the league, issues like the draft, the lottery and combine all will take a backseat. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Thursday that the league was focused on finishing the season while eyeing a potential league calendar for 2020-21 that could start in December and run through July.
In that case, the draft may not be held until late in the summer or early in the fall, though that is just one suggestion. There are stands the possibility that the 2019-20 season is not completed and the draft is held much earlier in the summer.
It’s a fluid situation across every aspect o the NBA with the draft likely to be one of the latter matters addressed.
