For the last two seasons, Bill O’Brien has been the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator. The lead play-caller for the Alabama offense headlined by Heisman-winning quarterback Bryce Young.
Recently, a report surfaced that the New England Patriots were interested in potentially hiring O’Brien, which would be somewhat of a homecoming for the Massachusetts native. From 2007-2011, O’Brien served in numerous roles within the Patriots’ offensive coaching staff. He ultimately became the team’s offensive coordinator in 2011 but left after one season to become the head coach at Penn State.
Patriots insider Tom E. Curran joined the Up and Adams Show and stated that he believes there is indeed mutual interest between O’Brien and Bill Belichick.
He also details that his sources believe a detail has likely already been agreed upon or is
in the works.
