New England Patriots wide receiver Mohamed Sanu finished the Patriots’ Week 11 game despite suffering an ankle injury, but he did not participate in practice on Wednesday and may miss time.
NBC Sports Boston’s Tom E. Curran reputed that Sanu may need an extended absence. Here’s what Curran said:
Last week, after he had the punt return where it appeared he might have twisted up his leg, probably led to what I’m hearing might be a high ankle sprain that could keep him on the sidelines for a couple of weeks unless it has drastic improvement.
Sanu suffered his injury while returning a punt in the second half of the Patriots’ 17-10 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. His punt-returning role has been new with starting punt returner Gunner Olszewski dealing with a rash of injuries. Olszewski landed on injured reserve this week when the Patriots activated offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn.
Considering the Patriots’ recent struggles on offense, Sanu’s injury is a rough development. He joined the team in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons at the deadline this season.
