Report: Michigan football offering Bryce Underwood ‘closer to double’ reported $5 million

#Michigan isn’t going to be out-bid, but that doesn’t mean he’ll end up in Ann Arbor. #GoBlue

Michigan football is hard after the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 class in five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.

Hailing from nearby Belleville (Mich.), Underwood has been committed to LSU since January. But Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines are working overtime to pry him away from the Tigers.

In the past few weeks, the recruitment has heated up, with On3’s Pete Nakos reporting that Michigan was offering an NIL deal around $5 million. However, CBS Sports’ Richard Johnson reports that the number is closer to eight figures than being in the middle seven.

The website On3 initially reported a figure for Underwood may near $5 million, but multiple conversations CBS Sports and 247Sports have had with sources across the industry paint the real number to be something closer to double that (over the course of several seasons). There should be no surprise at the high cost of doing business in the NIL era with a highly-touted prospect.

We’ve reported on the Locked On Wolverines Podcast that Michigan will not be out-bid by LSU in paying Underwood. However, Underwood loves LSU, and if he stays in Baton Rouge, it won’t be due to the financial offers being put out there.

Underwood is expected to make his official visit to LSU this weekend for the night game tilt against Alabama.
