Report: Magic, Pistons had interest in Spencer Dinwiddie at NBA Trade Deadline

Spencer Dinwiddie’s name popped up in rumors at this year’s NBA Trade Deadline more than any other Brooklyn Nets player.

The Nets quietly watched the 2020 NBA Trade Deadline pass by on February 6, though there were still Brooklyn players who saw their names pop up in the rumor mill.

Before possible trades started flying around, there was speculation Joe Harris or Rodions Kurcus could be on the move. Then the Nets were linked to the Houston Rockets amid all of their Clint Capella talks. Houston was reportedly interested in including Taurean Prince and Jarrett Allen in a deal.

Then there was Spencer Dinwiddie, whose name came up not once, but twice. The Los Angeles Lakers had reportedly reached out about his availability. The Nets were also reportedly interested in Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins, and Dinwiddie’s name came up in discussions.

It turns out there were other teams who thought about making a move for the point guard. Ian Begley of SNY is reporting both the Orlando Magic and the Detroit Pistons were looking at Dinwiddie leading up to this year’s deadline. The talks, however, remained internal.
