Report: LSU’s Cameron Thomas to work out and interview with Warriors

LSU prospect Cameron Thomas is reportedly slated to have a pre-draft workout and interview with the Golden State Warriors.

As the 2021 NBA Draft moves closer, the Golden State Warriors are still bringing in different prospects for workouts and interviews as Steve Kerr and Bob Myers do their final wave of homework.

After watching and speaking with multiple draft prospects at the combine, the Warriors are still bringing in different players to the Bay Area before draft day.

On Wednesday, a shooting guard from Louisiana State University will work out for the Warriors. According to Kendra Andrews of NBC Sports Bay Area, LSU’s Cameron Thomas will work out and interview for the Warriors on Wednesday.

During his only season with the Bayou Bengals, Thomas averaged 23 points on 40.6% shooting from the floor in 29 games. The 19-year-old added 3.4 boards and 1.4 assists in 34 minutes per contest as a freshman.

Thomas tallied 25 or more points 16 different times for the Tigers, including a pair of games with 30 and 32 point efforts.

In the latest Rookie Wire mock draft from Cody Taylor, Thomas comes off the board at No. 23 to the Houston Rockets.

Thomas led all freshmen in the country in scoring and finished with 22 20-point games, the most in program history since Shaquille O’Neal in 1992. His early exit from the draft combine sparked some rumors that he could have a promise from a team. Based on his ability to score, Thomas could be a coveted option this late in the draft and yet another piece for the Rockets to build around.

Thomas could be an option for the Warriors to add scoring for the second unit alongside Jordan Poole and Eric Paschall.
