Could Brian Kelly’s days in South Bend be numbered?
LSU, who made it known that Ed Orgeron wasn’t going to return in 2022 as their head coach, has seen USC swoop into Oklahoma and hire Lincoln Riley while Florida has fired and hired a head coach since the Tigers opening was announced.
According to a staff report from The Athletic, LSU is taking a big swing as they’re in pursuit of Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly.

I wouldn’t call LSU desperate at this point but they certainly don’t feel great after thinking they might be getting Riley before he inked the deal at USC. If they’re feeling a bit up against it then they’d likely offer Kelly a boatload of money for his services.
I don’t know if Brian Kelly would want to go to LSU or not but I do know money certainly talks. A week ago Kelly was asked if he’d ever leave Notre Dame for something other than retirement and stated:
“No, I mean, look, I think Mike Tomlin had the best line, right? Unless that fairy godmother comes by with that $250 million check, my wife would want to take a look at it first. I’d have to run it by her.” – Brian Kelly
I’m guessing the offer won’t be $250 million but if they’re to make one it would certainly be a lot as Ed Orgeron was paid over $9 million this season.
Stay tuned …
