Report: Lloyd Pierce under consideration for Steve Kerr’s coaching staff with Warriors

According to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, Lloyd Pierce is under consideration to join Steve Kerr’s coaching staff with the Warriors.

Following a pair of losses in the Western Conference play-in tournament to end their season, the Golden State Warriors are set to make some changes to their coaching staff during the 2021 offseason.

Longtime Golden State assistant Jarron Collins has been one of the coaches to depart from Steve Kerr’s staff following the conclusion of the 2020-21 season. The Warriors have also reportedly added Nikola Jokic’s former coach Dejan Milojevic to the staff. With changes underway, the Warriors don’t seem to be done tinkering with the coaching staff.

According to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, former Atlanta Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce is under consideration to join Kerr’s coaching staff with the Warriors.

After nine seasons as an assistant coach, Lloyd was hired as the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks in 2018. Following a 14-20 start during the 2020-21 campaign, the Hawks parted ways with Pierce as their head coach.

Pierce, a Bay Area native, played college basketball alongside Steve Nash at Santa Clara University.

Pierce will get the opportunity to coach Draymond Green next to Kerr at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Both Pierce and Kerr will serve as assistants on Gregg Popovich’s coaching staff for Team USA.
