The Lakers are slowly returning to full strength after battling injuries all season long, but fans will have to wait a bit longer to see LeBron James back on the floor.
With the Lakers facing a crucial back-to-back on Tuesday and Wednesday against the Knicks and Rockets, it was reported on Monday that James could be eligible to return against New York after making progress in workouts as he rehabs his sprained ankle.
The Lakers are currently the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference and are set to participate in the NBA’s new play-in tournament unless they can chase down the Portland Trail Blazers, who lead by 1.5 games in the standings.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, James will not suit up on Tuesday, but he plans to return against Houston on Wednesday.
LeBron James is going to give that right ankle one more day of rest today vs. Knicks — and target a return on Wednesday vs. Rockets, sources tell @mcten and me.

The Knicks-Lakers game will tip off Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on TNT.
