Despite initial optimism that he may be back sooner than later, LaMelo Ball will reportedly miss four weeks with a foot injury. The injury was sustained during training in the lead up to Illawarra’s contest against Brisbane on Saturday. Initially, Ball was only ruled out for the Bullets game but DraftExpress’ Jonathan Givony reported the full extent of Ball’s injury.
Potential No. 1 NBA draft pick LaMelo Ball will miss about four weeks with a foot injury, sources told ESPN. Ball suffered a bruised foot in practice last week and was prescribed to rest by an Australian foot specialist he visited, which will likely keep him out of action until January.
The good news for Ball and the Hawks is that he is expected to return in January, as also noted by Givony in the piece.
Ball will rehab his injury in Australia and is expected to make a full recovery and continue to play for Illawarra as they close out the regular season in mid-February.
Illawarra will play five more times in the month of December, totaling six games Ball will miss. The NBL season continues only until Feb. 14, severely hampering both the amount of games Ball will play and the amount of times NBA teams can scout Ball before season’s end.
