The Brooklyn Nets have been talked about a lot recently as one of the teams in the NBA that could make a move or two before the February trade deadline. Ironically enough, the team that they recently beat could be going after one of their players.
In an article by Matt Moore of Action Network, he recently wrote his thoughts on what each team could do with the trade deadline approaching based on what his sources have told him. Within his blurb about the Nets, Moore noted that the Los Angeles Lakers are “known to have interest” in guard Spencer Dinwiddie.
What makes this report ironic is that Brooklyn recently beat Los Angeles 130-112 on Friday with a significant part of that victory being because of Dinwiddie’s efforts. While Dinwiddie has not had a good season by his standards, he stands to be of value to teams looking for veteran guard depth such as the Lakers.
This could have been something to reasonably expect for some time now as in the offseason, it was reported that Dinwiddie and the Nets had mutual interest in reaching an extension at some point during this season. However, there hasn’t been updated reports on those extension talks and at the moment, it appears that Dinwiddie is more likely to be traded than he is to stay with the team past the deadline.
