Report: Lakers add Shay Murphy as coaching associate

The Los Angeles Lakers have added former WNBA player Shay Murphy as a coaching associate.

The Los Angeles Lakers have added Shay Murphy as a coaching associate, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Murphy attended USC in 2003 and played collegiate basketball there for four seasons before going into the WNBA.

The Minnesota Lynx drafted Murphy with the 15th pick in the 2007 WNBA draft.

Murphy’s career spanned over a decade across the WNBA and overseas. In 2014, Murphy helped the Phoenix Mercury win the NBA championship.

It’s unclear what Murphy’s exact role with the team will be, but there’s plenty of talent to help coach alongside Frank Vogel and David Fizdale entering the fold for the 2021-22 campaign.
