Celtics fans made clear they didn’t care much for Brooklyn’s new superstar point guard, Kyrie Irving, when the Nets visited the TD Garden in Boston this season.
While they might still be frustrated with their former point guard, Irving is still lending at least one of his old teammates a helping hand.
Prior to Game 6 of the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals, Rachel Nichols of ESPN reported Irving has been there for Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum throughout Boston’s run in Florida:
The 22-year-old has been trying to take on more of a leadership role, something he’s been getting advice [on] from — wait for it — yes, Kyrie Irving. … Kyrie has been calling Jayson occasionally through his time bubble to talk, offer advice.
Tatum, who is a Duke product like Brooklyn’s point guard, was selected by Boston in the 2017 NBA Draft, starting his Celtics career alongside Irving after he’d been traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
