Report: Kyrie Irving could be out two more weeks

Kyrie Irving’s injury has already sidelined him for an extended period of time. But he could be out for a while longer.

Brooklyn’s game against the Atlanta Hawks marks game No. 10 without Kyrie Irving for the Brooklyn Nets.

The superstar point guard has been dealing with a right shoulder impingement, forcing Spencer Dinwiddie to take over as starting point guard and Brooklyn’s leading scorer — a role he’s thriving in.

Although there’s been no indication of what his timeline is, Irving has made progress since Thanksgiving.

On Black Friday, Kenny Atkinson informed reporters the point guard was doing core work. Since then, Irving has begun to do work on the court, as well. However, he’s not taking part in any portions of practice which involve contact.

But this progress doesn’t necessarily mean Irving is returning anytime soon.

In fact, Brian Lewis of the New York Post is reporting Irving could be out for another two weeks:

Spoke with both multiple NBA sources and orthopedic specialists. The most optimistic expected Kyrie Irving to be out at least another week or two. Most pessimistic intimated there could be more to this than meets the eye, [and] more issues down the road.
