Report: Knicks eyeing Sixers GM Elton Brand as potential GM candidate

The New York Knicks have their eyes on Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand.

The NBA is in hiatus right now, but that does not mean that business cannot be handled. In fact, now is probably the best time to handle business affairs with nothing else going on.

The New York Knicks, who always seem to be shooting themselves in the foot, could be searching for a new general manager. While they currently have one in place in Scott Perry who is under contract for 2020-21, new Knicks executive Leon Rose may be looking for somebody to his liking as Perry was hired by Steve Mills who Rose is replacing.

According to the New York Daily News, Rose has his eye on Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand:

According to a league source, Elton Brand has been targeted by Rose as a candidate for Knicks GM. Brand, 41, is currently the Sixers GM and is under contract next season, complicating any designs of bringing him to New York. The source said Rose wanted to see if Brand was dismissed after the playoffs.

Brand is in his second full season at the helm for the Sixers and he has made some gutsy moves to turn the Sixers into title contenders. He made the bold move to acquire both Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris in 2018-19 before coming up short in the semifinals and then acquired Josh Richardson and Al Horford in the offseason.

If Brand is let go, which at this point in time it seems very unlikely, then the Knicks will be ready to pounce. Philadelphia has had success on the court with Brand in this position and success on the court is something that the Knicks crave at this point. [lawrence-related id=28671,28665,28654]
