Report: Kirk Cousins is the highest-paid NFL player on Forbes list

Kirk Cousins is the ninth highest-paid athlete in the world from June 1, 2019 to June 1, 2020, according to Forbes.

Based off his salary and his endorsements, Kirk Cousins is the highest-paid NFL athlete, according to Forbes.

Cousins came in at No. 9 across all sports in terms of his pay from June 1, 2019 to June 1, 2020. Forbes said that “while more NBA players make the list than any other sport, NFL players had the best year as a group thanks to the season’s late-summer start that has left them unaffected by the pandemic.”

Cousins estimated earning total is $60.5 million  — $2.5 from endorsements with the rest coming from his salary.

He signed an extension with the Vikings this offseason. The deal added two new years, worth $66 million. Overall, it was three years in total for $96 million.

Cousins called the contract a win-win, because he stays in Minnesota and the deal lessened the cap hit for 2020.

Cousins is coming off a season where he threw for 3,603 yards, 26 touchdown passes and six interceptions. He also led the Vikings to a playoff victory over the Saints.
