Report: Kevin Durant, Nets to face Warriors on NBA 2020-21 opening night

After a year of rehab, Kevin Durant gets to start off his career with his new team by facing the previous team he played for.

The preseason and Christmas Day Kyrie Irving vs. Celtics matchups may have gotten all the hype at first, but the Nets point guard isn’t the only Brooklyn star facing a former team early in 2020-21.

Kevin Durant will have training camp and two preseason games to get ready for the NBA’s opening night on December 22, when he and the Nets will take on the Golden State Warriors as part of TNT’s doubleheader, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Warriors are coming off a year where they were without Klay Thompson for the entire season and Steph Curry for the majority of 2019-20. Unfortunately for Golden State, Thompson has been ruled out for all of 2020-21, as well, after suffering a torn Achilles.

Barclays Center will play hot to the opening night matchup between the Nets and Warriors.

The second half of TNT’s December 22 doubleheader will feature the battle for Los Angeles between the Lakers and Clippers.
